Emergency Resolution: The Police and Crime Bill

• We re-affirm our commitment the rights of women to be able to live their lives safely and free from any form of abuse and attack.
• We condemn the attack by the Metropolitan Police on 13 March on the vigil mourning the murder of Sarah Everard at Clapham Common.
• We also stand with the family of Nicole Smallman and Bibaa Henry, two sisters who were murdered in a London Park, a crime which the police initially did not properly investigate and, further, officers were found to have taken selfies with women’s bodies.
• Abortion Rights notes that this Bill contains draconian provisions which are a serious attempt to curtail our civil liberties the right to organise or take part in any public protest.
• We resolve to work with other campaigns and trade union organisation to urgently build maximum opposition to this dangerous piece of legislation.
