Farage’s version of “family values” is a direct threat to personal freedom. He recently said that under Reform, there would be “less abortion and less divorce.” That’s not support — that’s control.

“In an ideal world parents would get married and stay together,” he told The Times.

Children, he said, do best when raised in “a stable family background.”

Sounds reasonable — until you realise the subtext: stay married, even if it’s broken. Don’t get divorced, even if it’s toxic. Get in line.

Now layer that with his stance on abortion.

“I am pro-choice, but I think it’s ludicrous, utterly ludicrous that we can allow abortion up to 24 weeks,” he said in May.

He’s pushing for a “debate in Parliament” on reducing the time limit – a move that can become a gateway to further restrictions.

Farage is using the Trump playbook:

• Wrap hard-right policies in soft language.
  
• Use “common sense” to smuggle in authoritarian ideas.
  
• Talk about families, but only the kind that fit your ideal.
  
• Build culture war momentum — and use it to chip away at rights.
